October’s ECS roast Gothic Serpent honors the US Delta Force and Army Rangers who fought in the Battle of Mogadishu. Operation Gothic Serpent came to a head on October 3rd, 1993, when two Black Hawk helicopters were shot down over the city.

To rescue the survivors, US Service Members fought their way through the city to secure the downed helicopters. The battle raged through the night until US forces were finally evacuated on the morning of October 4th. In the aftermath, 19 US soldiers and airmen were killed in the battle, and 73 were wounded. Two were awarded the Medal of Honor for their heroism during the battle.
